Adolescent medicine focuses on the general and specific needs of children and teens 12 to 21 years old. Adolescence is a period of change and transition both physically and psychologically. While in general teens are physically healthy, they may have other issues, many sensitive, that need to be talked about and evaluated.
In general, physical exams, sports physicals, immunizations and gynecological exams are provided. In addition, services are provided for development and puberty, acne, behavioral concerns, school difficulties, menstrual problems, gynecological issues, sexually transmitted diseases or STDs (testing and treatment), substance abuse, mental health and reproductive health.
